Interview with contest winner Ele05gs

So we finally managed to get Ele05gs here, after some communication issues and got to interview her.
You've all undoubtedly read the review for her winning one-shot, but now we get to take a look into the mind of the author behind this masterpiece.

1. Can you tell us something about yourself?

Hm. Well, reading is my passion, if I could I would have a book in my hands all day (Something that didn’t involve studying, though :p) I love writing too, even though I don’t have as much time as I wish I did for it right now with college. It seems I have a few things to learn from Mehek18!
Oh! I also think too much, that’s probably why it took me ages to reply to this! ;)

2. How did you become involved with Twilight and fanfiction?

I first found about Twilight through Paramore's video "Decode." Needless to say I was in love!
After I watched the move I wanted more, so I started following websites and then came twitter. That's how I found out about the books, something I was oblivious to until then. I did some research until I found them online (they weren't available in my country then) and read them all in as fast as I could. Again I was in loooove!
That along with twitter brought fanficion to my knowledge. And suddenly I couldn't get away from the computer! The first fic I read was in Twilighted, I admit I’m not exactly found of it. So when I found FFn I was thrilled! I spent my summer holidays reading that year!
Eventually I decided I could try to write something myself, and the ideas haven’t stopped popping up since then!

3. What were your first thoughts when you heard you won?

“Holy Sh!t!” Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought!  I was seriously surprised, I wasn’t exacting it, not at all.

4. How did you come up with the plot for From Your Valentine?

I don’t even know! I think I saw about the contest through Twitter and I thought why not, right? I never wrote anything dark before, even less something bloody. But as soon as I read the rules and everything the thought just came by and the story came into my mind.
Then came the hard thing: writing the ending and finding a title. So I did a little research about Valentine’s Day. I found some pretty interesting stories, but one said that St. Valentine used to write letters to his love one from prison and he would always end them with “from your Valentine.” And that’s when magic happened!

5. Can you tell us about your other stories?

I only have one multi-chapter story, the first fic I wrote, “If It Kills Me.” Funny how I’m still to finish it. When I first started I didn’t know a thing about betas and pre-readers so it kind of sucked, especially since English is not my first language. But I’ve been told my writing improved since then, and I feel that way too.
I have quite a few one-shots too. I like OS’ quite a lot, it might leave you wanting more but I feel it’s easier because with classes I don’t have much time to update my stories and I feel bad leaving my readers waiting. That’s probably why I only have one WIP story.
On my OS’ again, I have wrote most of them for contest, two of which were collabs with Lehava: “I Can’t Live Without Your Love” and “Devotion.” The first was written for “Til Death Do Us Apart” contest which should give you an idea of what’s about. The later is about obsession and well, devotion. Edward has a trebled life of sorts, his only way of escaping is by watching his neighbor, who just happens to be Bella. When her life starts stumbling down he finds the chance to get close to her and help her through it. Only he didn’t know she could save him too.
I admit I like writing angst, I don’t really know why, but I do. The first angst-filled story I wrote was “Silence” it was supposed to be a multi-chapter story but I never got to finish it, so I let is as a OS, it’s kind of short, but I’m actually quite proud of it.
For those of you interested I’m already working on another multi-chapter story, full of angst! But it won’t be published until I finish my current WIP fic!

6. Where do you get your inspiration?

Usually from songs or pictures.  Sometimes are just thoughts that come to my mind, though. Or from watching people, I like to ‘people-watch’. My mind works in an odd way.

7. Is there something special you need in order to write? Quiet, traffic, tequila, pizza??

No, nothing in particular. I like listening to music while writing, or just a quite house. But it’s not a must. I need to have my head clear or every RL situation though, just put it aside for a bit.

8. If you could collab with one person, who would that be?

With Lehava! Definitely! I’ve already worked with her and we made a good work, in my opinion. I would do it a million times over and write a full story with her, but our schedules don’t fit, at all.

9. Who are your favorite authors?

That’s a tough one. I don’t a small list, but I’ll give you some:
These authors wrote stories that even if I lived a million years I wouldn’t forget.

10. Which are your favorite stories?

Again too many to list, and my list keep growing too. I did mention I love reading after all. My latest favorites are: Faking It, Green, Kindly Unspoken, Love Songs in E Minor. Then there are stories like Wide awake, Secrets Don't Keep Friends and What Impossible Means that are and will always be my favorites!

11. Who's your favorite character and why?

Well, why, Edward of course! Isn’t he just swoon worthy?
Oh, and even though I wouldn’t list it as one of my favorite characters, I like Alice a lot too. She’s optimistic and always cheerful, something I think we need more in life.

12. If you were to meet ... (that character) in person, what would you say/do?

GAH! I would faint. But hey as Edward is fictional I can settle with Rob Pattinson! ;)

13. Are you currently involved in any other fandoms or activities to do with the fandom?

No, not at the moment. I did once write for a good cause, if you will. To help the flood in Jacksonville last year and I’m planning on helping with my writing in Fandom Gives Back as soon as I have some more time.

14. Can you tell us a secret?

I’m secretly terrified of writing smut, I feel I won’t make it good enough, and it’s kind of embarrassing too! *blushes*

15. Do you have any wise words you'd like to share with readers?

I would say that if you’re wondering whether to write your first fic or not, then don’t! Don’t wonder I mean *wink*. You will see that once you start even the most insignificant thought will give you ideas to write more. I used to be skeptical towards my writing skills –I still am –but you will never know how good you are, or could, be until you try.
Also asking for help won’t hurt you. I’ve come to see people in this fandom are all so wonderful, I made great friends here, friends I intend on having for as long as I live.
Lastly, like Neil Gaiman once said:You’ll get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we're doing it." *grin*
I hope you all enjoyed that! I know, I did. Thank you, darling. *winks*

Review Reader's Choice: From Your Valentine

That Ele05gs is an amazing writer, hasn't been a secret to us for a long time. This time, she yet again, managed to blow my mind with this bloody, but loving tale that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

The story starts out simple enough, with a little loving -or is it panting?- scene between Edward and Bella. It's Valentine's Day and Edward stopped by for a surprise visit. And what a surprise it is, when Bella wakes up next to his warm body. They greet each other properly and then Edward has to leave again.

He's a restaurant owner and unfortunately, days like these are the busiest. He has managed to keep his night clear for her though and so Bella prepares for the big night.

When Bella is on her way to Edward's, Alice calls her to inform about a mysterious package, but soon they decide to let it go. When Bella arrives at Edwards, there's a note on the door saying she can go right inside. Inside, all is quiet and when instructed to close her eyes, she does. But what if the one whispering to her isn't Edward at all?

Beep. Beep. Beep…
The sound of my alarm clock wakes me up. 8am, right on the dot.

I growl and rub the sleep off my eyes, trying to remember why I had set the alarm clock so early. If I recalled correctly, I didn't have to work today, despite being Monday. Who would need a Psychologist on the 14th of February, anyway?

Wrong question. Many probably would, but I deserved a free day once in a while!
"I don't want to get up," I whine. Why would I? I don't have anything to do that I can remember, and my bed is so warm and comfy.
"Who said you have to?"

I jump up, startled, to stare at the biggest smug grin I'd seen in a while. Then I notice a pair of bright, deep green eyes staring back at me, shining with happiness.
I snort. "Get the hell out of my house and let me sleep!" I growl, raising the covers up to my face, shielding me from the light and those mesmerizing eyes.

"Nah-uh! I didn't come all the way down here for nothing!" He tugs at my blankets until I let them go, and throws them as far away from the bed as he could, then climbs on top of me.
"Babe?" he whispers seductively into my ear, kissing my neck lightly.
I try to stay as still as I can, but the way his lips feel on my neck isn't helping. He works his way over my jaw and neck, his lips never really touching my skin, yet leaving a burning trail behind them. He stills right over my mouth, breathing deeply in and then out. I can feel his hot breath over my face and going through my parted lips.

"Edward," I moan. My will power is almost completely gone, but then he presses his body against mine, all his weight over me, and I lose it. I moan loudly again, snaking my arms around his neck and into his hair. He finally brings his mouth down to mine. His lips move over my own fervently, in a hungry kiss.
He groans into my mouth, pressing more of his body on mine, creating friction where we both want it… need it. While trailing kisses down my jaw and neck to my collarbone– where he kisses and licks thoroughly– Edward pulls at the old t-shirt I was wearing as pajama until he gets rid of it.

His hands run over my naked skin, skimming the side of my breast and going down from my tight the back of my knee, my skin burning where he touches. He hitches my leg over his hip and I feel him, right… there. I am not going to last long if he keeps this up, and he knows it. So I stop him.
I push his chest up with both my hands until he is on his back, and climb on top of him, grinning. He smiles back and moves to pull me on top of him again. I feel his tongue slipping along my bottom lip, and I grant him entrance, shifting my head to deepen the kiss.

Between kisses and gentle strokes we get rid of every and any piece of fabric standing between us. Not late after we are both moaning loudly and breathing hard, our bodies moving rhythmically.
"Bella!" he groans, falling over the edge with me.

I lay beside him for a few minutes, my head resting on his chest, trying to get my breathing and heartbeat back to normal. Edward holds me close to him, stroking the skin of my back tenderly with his hand, whispering I love you's into my ear, and kissing my hair sweetly every once in a while.

It starts out nice enough, doesn't it. But it won't stay that way. This entry hasn't received the award of most bloody if there wasn't a valid reason for it. So be warned! And now go read From Your Valentine. And be sure to visit Ele05gs' page for more of her amazing writing.

Interview with contest winner Mehek18

She blew our minds with her story The Valentine Rock and so it didn't seem more than fair that we got to dissect her brain for a bit. Let's see what our contest winner, the wonderful Mehek18 had to tell us.

1. Can you tell us something about yourself?

About myself, I make banners and I'm a fast reader. My top hobbies are reading. No matter how hard
classes are, I take a few hours to read fanfiction everyday. If I don't get time to read, I get very crazy. I
have to schedule every minute of my day to make time for other activities besides college.

2. How did you become involved with Twilight and fanfiction?

I became involved with Twilight by reading the books, at first I couldn't bring myself to get into the
first book. However, once I made it half way I was hooked. I finished the next books by reading it
nonstop and finishing it within just a couple of days.

Involving myself in fanfiction was a complete surprise. I couldn't get enough of the twilight series
just by four books. I wrote a continuous of their story in a notebook. As I wrote I started searching
for facts about twilight to write into my story. As I searched the internet I came across a site called
Wattpad.com. I read my first twilight fanfiction in that site, story had only two multi-chapter story and
still didn't give a complete ending. Every week I used to check the story if the person will add more
and give me some kind of ending. That story had made me crazy. Finally underneath the comments, the
uploaded wrote the site fanfiction.net to find more stories. That is when I discovered other crazy writers
like me. I was hooked from the start and just read everything I could get my hands on. However I didn't
forget about that story from Wattpad and started to search it everywhere, but I couldn't find it because
in Wattpad, there was no penname or the right title to search it from. Months later I finally found it and
squealed like crazy. I wrote a big review to the author explaining my madness about the search for the
last part to the story. Believe me, the author was just as shocked!

Over time I have become choosy and read stories only when they are complete and recommended. In
the beginning I read in-completes and authors wouldn't update for months and months leaving me right
on the edge. Finally, I decided not to torture myself and started to read complete stories. I haven't read
a normal novel for a long time now. If its class related then I make myself read another novel.

I started writing fanfiction just as something like a hobby. I didn't understand back then what a beta is,
what it takes to write a good fanfiction. I am still learning and giving my best to improve every time.

3. What were your first thoughts when you heard you won?

I was shocked and completely surprised. I seriously wasn't expecting to win at all. The story didn't
actually make sense to me. I was not even planning to submit it but I thought I had wrote it so why not.
I never expected to win at all!

4. How did you come up with the plot for The Valentine Rock?

The plot of The Valentine Rock was actually just a crazy thought I made. I never written a scary fic
before, I had to read some short horror stories to remind me what I should focus on. I thought about

writing characters around James, Bella and Edward but I wanted to do something different and not
make it a murder/revenge thing. I wanted something completely weird. I started to think about ghosts
and stuff and decided to write an outline for it. The rock was just an object that came into my head.

5. Can you tell us about your other stories?
Challenging Humanity is one of my best stories. Its about a mute Bella, new in town and meeting
the Cullens. This story focuses more on father/daughter friendship. Its a cute story that I started after
I wrote my first fanfiction. My first fanfiction was really bad and I didn't know anything about the
chapter length or beta. I started Challenging Humanity right after.

My other mini stories have to do with Twilight series, like little chapters that might have happened
before or during Twilight series.

Dream To Reality story was my first fic that I collab with Precious Angel 204. This fic was actually
written for a one shot contest but I missed the deadline because I couldn't find any beta on time.
Precious Angel 204 added her own smoothness and made it into multi-chapters. We decided to collab
together. It is a very cute story about Edward and Bella losing their virginity. It was my first attempt at
writing smut!

My other stories are one shots I had written for other fandom contests. Whatever catches my attention
and makes me want to write an outline, I write a one shot for it.

6. Where do you get your inspiration?

It mostly depends on what I am trying to write for. If its for a one shot contest my inspiration would be
a picture, if a story then it would be inspired by something I was thinking about.

7. Is there something special you need in order to write? Quiet, traffic, tequila, pizza??

To write I wouldn't need quiet, but I would need a desk with either notebook and a pen, or my laptop.
I couldn't write with distractions so I would either write in some place like a classroom or library. In
between I would read fanfiction.

8. If you could collab with one person, who would that be?

I have only collab with one person so far who is Precious Angel 204. I can't think of anyone else that
can callob with me since my grammar is awful. I am still learning my way around writing fanfiction.
I had plan on collabing with my friend in the fandom but we both don't time to keep up with regular
updates for readers and don't want to leave each other hanging.

9. Who are your favorite authors?

Oh my god, too many to choose from. Honestly I read so many that my favorite list keeps growing. I
can't ever keep track. These are only a few authors names I could think of that I read more than just one
story of theirs recently.

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1999955/Choices_HP

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1712635/JulesSC

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2313879/ermireallydontcare

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1869875/SydneyAlice

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1756195/nobloodnofoul

10. Which are your favorite stories?

Too many to chose from, the names on top of my head would be

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5852800/1/A_Marriage_of_Honour

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4805000/1/Breaking_the_Silence

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4770452/1/Fearless

and stories from those authors I listed above.

11. Who's your favorite character and why?

I am team Edward all the way in twilight books. In movies I like Jacob, sorry I know I will get
many haters for that. I am team Edward in twilight books for obvious reasons, he is a perfect guy in
everyway, human or vamp. If it weren't for him, I don't think I would have completed Twilight series. I
came very close to throwing away the New Moon book until I sneaked a peak at the end.

12. If you were to meet Edward or Jacob in person, what would you say/do?

Lol, I would like to keep reality and twilight separate but if I had to meet them, I think an autograph
would be enough. I would be too intimidated to say or ask anything.

13. Are you currently involved in any other fandoms or activities to do with the fandom?

Besides making banners and writing one shots for contests, I am pretty busy with college. I was part
of a lot of activities during the summer and winter until my college started. Now its too hectic to do
anything else.

14. Can you tell us a secret?

I discovered about BDSM from twilight fanfictions (lol), so I completely blame the fandom writers for
my smutty thoughts. Shhh, its a secret.

15. Do you have any wise words you'd like to share with readers?

If you were writing fanfiction, I would suggest getting a mentor, prereader, beta and write out an
outline. These are necessary things to write a good fic. Writing was a hobby but now its a learning
process for me. Make a friend in the fandom, people are great once you open up. If you think you are
crazy, don't worry this fandom wouldn't be here if it weren't for people like you (smiles).

Go check out Mehek18's stories here. And be sure to read The Valentine Rock!

My Bloody Valentine Winners

The contest has come to an end. Votes are in, and of course, being me, I couldn't wait another day to let you all know who our lucky winners are.

Sadly, we only received two entries, but they were both A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
So amazing that they gave us a hard time on deciding, but finally we wrestled our way through and the winners are known.

Yes, you read that right. I said 'winners'. Both contestants won in multiple categories and they truly deserved it.

Ele05gs won FOUR times with her amazing story 'From Your Valentine'.
The categories for which she was chosen, were 'Most Bloody Story', 'Most Terrifying Tale', 'Most Twisted Killer' and finally, she also won the public voting round, making her the 'Reader's Favorite'.

Well done, Ele05gs!

Mehek18 won't go home empty-handed though, because she too is a winner. Her wonderful story 'The Valentine Rock' won both 'Best Use Of Valentine's Day' and 'Sister's Favorite'.

Awesome job, Mehek18.

If you haven't read their stories yet, make sure that you do. It's well worth the read!
Stay tuned for author interviews and story reviews later this week.
